Junior Fair Board
The Junior Fair Board is a recognized committee of the Franklin County Fair and Horse Show that is made up of young adults ages 14-20. Junior fair board members serve as delegates for every committee of the fair. They serve alongside senior fair board members in a variety of different aspects of the Franklin County Fair. We are striving to show Franklin County youth how much work goes into putting on the Fair. However, the work is meant to be fun and educational. The Franklin County Junior Fair Board is a great opportunity to become involved in the community and learn new skills. Junior Fair Board members are also eligible for nomination for scholarships at a state level. Once a junior Fair Board member has served on the committee for three years and reaches the age of 21, they are eligible to become a senior fair board member or select a specific committee on which to serve. Junior Fair Board Members are selected through an application process. There shall be an executive board for the junior Fair Board consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer and Immediate Past President. Junior fair board members are required to attend at least three of the four scheduled meetings for the Junior Fair Board, plus one meeting a year of the senior fair board. They have no voting privileges on the senior fair board; they will receive a fair pass during the fair. Junior Fair Board members must work at least twelve (12) hours at fair events. They must work twenty (20) hours at fair events to be eligible for nomination for Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows (KAFHS) scholarships. The junior fair board members are required to work in every aspect of the fair where needed. They will be given one day to enjoy the fair, but must be on call for Fair assistance if needed. There will be a maximum of 25 members to be on the Junior Fair Board at any one year. There will be a senior fair board member to act as a junior fair board coordinator, with others to help on that committee from the senior fair board. A few of the duties may include: taking entries, presenting awards, announcing, computer work, running errands, trolley driving (older members), assisting at events, serving hospitality, measurements, (motorsports), set-up, clean-up, and take down.
