Lawnmower Demolition Derby Payouts:    80% payback

 

Small Car Rules:

  1. Entry Fee is $25.
  2. Each driver must have a valid driver's license and must be a minimum of 21 years of age, or have a notarized release signed by a parent or guardian. NO PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS are allowed, Licenses will be required at time of registration.
  3. All participants must be on grounds by 4:00 p.m. All drivers must attend a drivers' meeting at 4:45 p.m.
  4. Any car posing a question of safety will be rejected from competition.
  5. The track officials reserve the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
  6. Each driver and member of their crew must sign a release form at the time of the car's registration and inspection. Only those who have signed a release will be permitted in the pit area or on the track.
  7. The Franklin County Fair Board will not be responsible for any cars, trucks or personal property before, during or after the show.
  8. Any car violation discovered during or after competition will result in disqualification and forfeiture of all prizes.
  9. All cars are to be removed from the fairgrounds following the show or they will become the property of the Franklin County Fair Board.
10. The decision of the judges will be final — NO EXCEPTIONS!
11. Any driver or anyone speaking for the driver using foul language in ring, announcer's table or crowd area will cause that driver to be disqualified and forfeit any prize money.
12. The use of illegal drugs or intoxicating beverages prior to or during the derby, disqualifies the car and the crew of the offending party.
13, No Trucks allowed.
14. Safety belt and approved safety helmets are required.
15. All glass (including windshield, side windows, rear window, headlights, taillights, mirrors, etc.) MUST be removed. Rolling windows down is NOT permitted. A metal mesh is required across windshield.
16. No special bumper, trailer hitches or reinforcements will be allowed. Only factory bumpers to match year of vehicle will be allowed.
17. All doors must be fastened shut by #9 wire or 5/16" chain (4 points per door) No welding. Use only one of these methods.
18. Cutting fenders and bumpers for wheel clearance only is permissible.
19. All chrome stripping and protruding objects must be removed.
20. No sand or concrete in doors or panels, no water in tanks or tires, or any other extra weight devices will be permitted.
21. No spring jacks or blocked shocks.
22. Must have factory body bushings in place.
23. Hood and deck lids must be operational for inspection. Can wire shut. For fire safety purposes, must have 10" hole in hood.
24. Hood and trunk lid may be secured with #9 wire or chained with 5/16" chain (Sheet metal to sheet metal only) at 6 places.
25. All vehicles must have operational brake systems. Vehicles must have brakes before beginning competition.
26. Both front door panels must be painted white for numbering, which will be assigned at inspection.
27. Gas tanks must be moved to back floorboard or car and tightly secured.
28. Tire size shall not exceed 10.00/15.  No double tires.
29. Exhaust may run through hood.
30. The number of heats will be determined the night of the derby.
31. One 4" bar allowed on driver's door and one 4" bar allowed behind driver's seat, not to extend  past center floorboard.
32. Only engines matching car manufacturer allowed – Ford/Ford; GM/GM; etc.
33. Mini Cars:
a.    Must have 106" wheelbase or less;
  b.    Can weigh no more than 2600 lbs before stripping and weights by    NADA standards; and
c.    No 4WD vehicle of any type.
34. All cars must have at least 2-inch travel of suspension on front and rear.
35. Drivers may weld a bar behind driver's seat to middle of vehicle.
36. Any driver disqualified during the inspection will not receive a return of their entry fee.
COMPETITION:
  1. Drivers may maneuver forward or backward, aggressive contact must be made with an active car. Playing possum will be grounds for disqualification. Vehicle will be marked and driver will be on the clock.
  2. No deliberate head-on collision or hitting driver's door.
  3. Any car catching fire is automatically disqualified if extinguished by track officials.
  4. Driver must stay in car unless told to do otherwise by a Derby official.
  5. In the event of a roll-over or a car leaves the competition area, they are disqualified.
Lawnmower Demolition Derby Rules:
  1. Entry fee for Lawnmower classes is $20.
  2. Mower must be factory-available lawn or garden mower (no homemade frames)
  3. No rear engine lawnmowers are allowed.
  4. Engine must be factory lawnmower engine, such as Briggs & Stratton, Tecumseh, Onan, etc.
  5. All modification and frame reinforcing will be allowed.
  6. Transaxles must be factory-available mower transaxles, but any reinforcing and/or welding of spider gears is permitted.
  7. Engine bay reinforcing is permitted but must be contained inside of hood and must maintain factory body lines.
  8. All mowers must run a factory hood and fenders and have the hood either screwed or welded down to dash panel around driver's area (NOTE: If hood is fiberglass, you can make one out of sheet metal only, but must be the same size as the fiberglass one.).
  9. Mowers must have good brakes, forward and reverse gears at the start of the heat.
10. Gas tank must be secured and have a cap on it (any gas leaking and driver will be asked to shut it down).
11. Leg guards are mandatory and must be bolted and/or welded from rear fender to front of foot rest or frame.
12. A rear bumper is permitted, but is not allowed to extend more than 4 inches out and it must stay in between the tires. Also, NO spikes, NO sharp edges, or any protrusions allowed (bumper can be homemade with I/H beam or sqare tubing).
13. Re-gearing and changing or pulleys to increase speed is permitted and encouraged.
14. Any and all drive-train modifications are permitted but must stay belt driven.
15. All mowers must use lawnmower-type wheels. Tractor treads and cut tires will be permitted but no tire chains or dual wheels will be allowed.
16. Mower decks must be removed.
17. All headlights and any other glass and plastics must be removed before you enter the fairgrounds.
18. Batteries must be removed from mower and only used to jump start the mower before the heat begins. If a pull is used, drivers will not be permitted to restart engine during the heat.
19. No front bumpers. You can build up the front of the frame and underneath the grill to hit with. The front of the mower must be smooth finish for safety,
20. Roll-over driver is out of the heat. Also, if a driver touches the ground with a hand or foot, the driver is also out of the heat.
21. For safety, if a mower rolls over, all drivers must stop and wait until that driver uprights his mower and gets off the track.
22. Please put your number on each side of your mower or your helmet so winners can be tracked.
23, Mowers must have a kill switch.
24. All ground rules will be gone over in a drivers' meeting before each heat.

 

When building your mower, keep in mind SAFETY FIRST

for you AND the mower you are hitting.

Before any payouts, we may ask

to look inside the mower

for any batteries or chain-driven or shaft-type set-ups.
